Crapizola! I’m way behind in my show log, so here are some quick and dirty ones to catch me up to present.
L-D II opened, and struck me as hybrid of the Flock of Seagulls music, with lyrics by Milli Vanilli. I have albums by both, so i don’t necessarily mean that as an insult, but i wasn’t really into it either. There was a young woman by name of Andrea who’s fluid dancing managed to keep the time passing.
!!! was basically playing a tune up show for their new material, before heading off to Europe. They took a while sound checking, and apparently from stage banter someone was late as well. It could well have been Nic because when the set began, he came out with his leg in a cast and dancing as best he could on crutches. They were quickly abandoned, but it did slow him down a bit. After opening with Pardon My Freedom, they proceeded to play pretty much all new stuff, and while everyone seemed pleased, people (including myself) were a bit disappointed that the old faves had been abandoned. No Giuliani? Yikes…
And then some girl swung a towel while doing a Rally-the-Team dance move and knocked my glasses off. I could not immediately locate them, even with the previously mentioned Andrea’s too kind assistance. Fortunately there was just enough left of the pair that were brought to me after the show to make a positive ID.
Summation.. Too long opener, too short headliner, too expensive collateral damage, and too stupid to get Andrea’s number. But the new album will be a winner.. Heart of Hearts, baby.
